Watford are in talks with Nottingham Forest over potentially re-signing Emmanuel Dennis.
The deal is intended to be a loan with no option for a permanent move, and the 26-year-old’s medical is planned for the next 24 hours.
Dennis is in the middle of a season-long loan spell with Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir. Forest have, however, agreed to terminate the existing loan deal with Basaksehir to allow the forward to move to his former club.
Following Forest’s promotion to the Premier League in the summer of 2022, Dennis joined the City Ground club from Watford for a fee in the region of £15million on a four-year contract but was made available for transfer only six months later.
Dennis did not end up leaving and finished the 2022-23 season with 27 appearances for Forest in all competitions but scored only twice and registered three assists.
The striker then joined Basaksehir on loan in September after being left out of Forest’s 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of this season.
Dennis has made only four starts and four substitute appearances in Turkey.
A return to Watford would see the Nigeria international rejoin the club he spent the 2021-22 Premier League season with, where he scored 10 times in 35 games before leaving for Forest.
Dennis previously played for Zorya Luhansk, Club Bruges and Cologne before joining Watford in 2021.
