Man City goalkeeper Ederson out for three to four weeks and doubt for Arsenal match

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will miss three to four weeks with a thigh injury picked up against Liverpool on Sunday and is a doubt for the match against Arsenal at the end of March.

The Brazilian suffered the injury when he came out of his goal and collided with Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez in the 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday, giving away a penalty and receiving a yellow card.

Ederson, who could not stop Alexis Mac Allister from scoring the resulting penalty to level the scores, was later replaced by Stefan Ortega.

After the match, City manager Pep Guardiola told beIN Sports “It doesn’t look good” when asked about the injury and it has now been confirmed the 30-year-old will miss up to a month.

The draw at Anfield on Sunday left Arsenal top of the Premier League table, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and one point in front of City with ten games left to play. Liverpool are also without their first-choice goalkeeper as Ederson’s fellow countryman Alisson is out with a hamstring injury.

City face Newcastle United at home in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Ederson was originally named in Brazil’s squad for the international friendlies against England on March 23 and Spain on March 26.
