Giants, Andrew Thomas agree to 5-year, $117.5 million contract extension: Source

Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas has signed a five-year, $117.5 million contract extension, a league source confirmed to The Athletic. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The deal also includes $67 million fully guaranteed at signing, according to the source, which is a record for an offensive lineman.
  • Thomas, 24, started 16 games last season and was selected second-team All-Pro.
  • The team announced a new contract but did not disclose financial details. ESPN first reported the signing.

Backstory

The fourth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Thomas has played in 45 regular-season games (44 starts) and two postseason games.

His signing comes one day after the Giants and running back Saquon Barkley agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $11 million. Barkley and the Giants failed to reach a long-term extension before last week’s franchise tag deadline, and the 26-year-old had not signed his franchise tag tender, which was worth $10.1 million.
