Gianluca Scamacca has completed a move to Atalanta after one season at West Ham United.
The Athletic reported on Saturday Atalanta were closing in on a deal after offering Scamacca a superior financial package to that put forward by fellow Serie A club Inter Milan.
West Ham released a statement confirming the 24-year-old’s departure and wished him well for the future.
The statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that Gianluca Scamacca has departed the Club and joined Atalanta BC. The 24-year-old has moved to the Italian Serie A side on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.
“The centre-forward spent a single season at London Stadium and scored eight goals in 27 appearances, including five in the Hammers’ run to lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League.
“West Ham would like to thank Gianluca for his efforts and wish him well for his future career.”

Scamacca struggled for form during his first season in the Premier League and suffered from injuries as he scored three goals in 16 appearances.
Scamacca, who has won 11 caps for Italy, spent time in Roma’s youth system before moving to PSV Eindhoven in 2016 and then returning to his homeland in 2017 with Sassuolo.
He had four loan spells while with Sassuolo before scoring 16 goals in 36 Serie A games for the club in 2021-22 and then joining West Ham last summer.
Scamacca joins Atalanta as a replacement for striker Rasmus Hojlund’s whose transfer to Manchester United was confirmed on Saturday.
West Ham kick off their Premier League campaign with an away match against Bournemouth on August 12.
