Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey to undergo knee surgery for injury sustained in practice: Reports

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey will undergo knee surgery to treat an injury suffered in practice Thursday and could miss the start of the regular season, according to multiple reports. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The injury is reportedly to Ramsey’s meniscus.
  • The 28-year-old was carted off the field during practice after sustaining the injury.
  • Miami acquired the All-Pro in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in March. As part of the deal, the Dolphins agreed to fully guarantee Ramsey’s contract for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, a league source told The Athletic.

What Ramsey said

Ramsey tweeted that he will “be back on that field strong than ever … in due time!”

Ramsey recorded 88 tackles, four interceptions and 18 passes defended last season.

A three-time first-team All-Pro selection, he has tallied 452 total tackles, 19 interceptions and six forced fumbles in his seven-year career. He started his NFL career with the Jaguars, who drafted him with the No. 5 pick in 2016, before being traded to the Rams during the 2019 season.

Los Angeles signed Ramsey to a five-year deal worth $100 million before the 2020 season.
