As the Mavericks go into next year, I think the focus will be on their younger players who have the chance to develop into triple threats off the catch — i.e. being able to shoot, pass or dribble credibly.
Josh Green and Jaden Hardy could be factors there. For now, two out of three ain’t bad.
Every play made off of a pass from Luka Dončić matters: 3s from Dereck Lively II and P.J. Washington, improbable drives from Derrick Jones Jr. and Dante Exum, the unlikely combination of Lively, catching and passing off the roll in one motion, to Exum for a corner 3 (though that shot was waived off due to Exum being out of bounds).
They are getting secondary contributions tonight, and that is everything.
