Buck Showalter returning to MLB Network as analyst: Source

Buck Showalter is returning to MLB Network as an analyst, officials with knowledge of the deal confirmed to The Athletic.

Showalter, who was let go as manager of the New York Mets after last season, will begin with the network at the start of April. The four-time Manager of the Year was with the network in 2020 and 2021. He previously worked with ESPN and the YES Network.

MLB Network usually features at least one ex-manager on its staff. Last year, Bo Porter was with the network, but returned to uniform as a first-base coach with the Los Angeles Angels. Joe Maddon will continue his weekly Monday appearances on “MLB Now.”

The 67-year-old Showalter was reportedly a finalist for the Angels job that went to Ron Washington.

Earlier in the offseason, MLB Network hired former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright. Wainwright is also going to be a part of Fox Sports’ game coverage.
