Arizona State has informed the NCAA and the Pac-12 conference that it will self-impose a one-year postseason ban on its football program for the upcoming season, the school announced Sunday.
The decision comes amid the ongoing NCAA probe into alleged recruiting violations under former coach Herm Edwards.
The Athletic first reported in June 2021 that Edwards and his program were under investigation for allegedly hosting recruits during the 15-month, non-contact period brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Edwards parted ways with the program last September after starting the 2022 season 1-2.
“In light of the ongoing investigation and our membership obligation to maintain the confidentiality of the matter, we will not be commenting further at this time,” Arizona State said in a statement.
