Aaron Rodgers to start for Jets in preseason finale vs. Giants: Source

Aaron Rodgers will start for the New York Jets on Saturday in the team’s preseason finale against the New York Giants, a team source confirmed. The New York Post first reported the news. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Rodgers, 39, sat out the team’s first three preseason games as Zach Wilson started.
  • The four-time MVP last played in a preseason game in 2018.
  • Jets coach Robert Saleh said the team would discuss plans for Rodgers’ potential debut “in the next few days,” with the quarterback’s input, after Saturday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Jets acquired Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in late April, trading their No. 13 pick this year, a second-round pick, a sixth-round pick and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that becomes a first if Rodgers plays at least 65 percent of the snaps in 2023.

The parties agreed to a reworked contract in July. Rodgers’ new deal is for two years and worth $75 million guaranteed through the 2024 season, a league source confirmed.
